Difference between red onions and Tropea's red onion
Tropea's Red Onions may be the most famous product in Calabria, Italy. This onions from Tropea is a particular variety which grows in a small area of Calabria named Tropea. It has a stronger and sweeter aroma and the inner part is juicier and whiter than other onions.
In March 2008, the European Union registered the "Protected Designation of Origin" mark for the red onions produced in this particular area. Just Whole onions in sweet sour sauce, vinegar and sugar. Perfect for onion lovers but made in the Italian style.
Solo Italiano's Sweet and Sour Tropea's red onion can be used:
